Through interactive gameplay, players create a personalized character that reflects their own background, circumstances, and goals, then navigate a virtual environment modeled on the real challenges of life after release.
As they play, users make decisions, encounter obstacles, and explore opportunities similar to those they are likely to face in the community. The game provides guidance along the way, highlighting constructive choices, skill-building activities, and steps that can strengthen their prospects while still incarcerated.
As their release date approaches, ViRSE helps bridge the gap between the virtual and real world by introducing players to relevant services, supports, and pathways they can begin engaging with before they return home.
